Scams aren't a minor inconvenience: they cause distress and misery, they ruin lives in some cases and, even where the losses are comparatively low, they lead to a widespread loss of consumer confidence.

Every year, Citizens Advice runs a national Scams Awareness campaign, which aims to create a network of confident, alert consumers who know what to do when they spot a scam.

Our 2023/2024 campaigns ran across two weeks of activity, focusing on financial and investment scams in October 2024, and online shopping scams in December 2024. Dates for our 2024/2025 campaign are being confirmed.

Scams aren't a minor inconvenience: they cause distress and misery, they ruin lives in some cases and, even where the losses are comparatively low, they lead to a widespread loss of consumer confidence.
